The Cactus Park in Barcelona (originally called Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera) – situated at the foot of Montjuïc – is one of the best options to escape the city for a few hours and enjoy tropical plants bathed in sunlight.
Montjuïc is a hill on the southwest side of Barcelona. It’s a heart of the city when it comes to exotic plants, tropical species, historical monuments, museums and cultural heritage at all. On the east side of the hill, a little gem is hidden – a perfect spot for every person who appreciates green areas filled with unusual cacti.
In the Cactus Park in Barcelona, you can find more than 800 kinds of cacti and each of them will surprise you by its peculiar shape, colour and texture.

A few different walking paths inside the park allow you to spend your leisure time wandering here and there in a unique atmosphere. Once you pass through the thick cactus forest, feeling almost like a guest of the wild jungle. After a few steps, you suddenly notice a spacious garden filled with different kinds of succulents and other tropical plants – all originate from all around the world.
You can reach a spot with plenty of medium-size palm trees and then if you go a little bit forward, you find yourself on the top of the garden admiring a spectacular view of the sea and the city’s port.
